Score: 2/10

Plus points:

The bag is small and easy to carry
Pets at Home stores tend to be easy for most people to get to.
Contains soya protein
Different ingredients are enjoyed by mice.
No scary food colourings

Negative points:

Contains a frightening amount of grass pellets that mice neither need nor choose to eat
Large quantity of sunflower seeds (fattening)
Peanuts (can cause allergies)
Contains no animal protein
Food bowl needs refilling twice as often

I was shocked when I saw the contents of this food. It’s full of alfalfa/grass pellets which take up a huge percentage of the overall weight. I personally don’t think this food is particularly suitable for mice or gerbils. However, your mice won’t starve if you feed them this, there’s enough different grains etc to keep them going.

This product isn’t really suitable for any small animal. It contains a large amount of alfalfa pellets, which most animals don’t eat and also has a high proportion of sunflower seeds which are very fattening and unhealthy in such high amounts.

Pros
-Easy to obtain
-Cheap

Cons
-Very high amount of alfalfa pellets, which most animals find boring and unpalatable, so many just don’t eat them, creating a lot of wastage.
-a dangerous amount of sunflower seeds, which are extremely fattening.
-Contains questionable meat sources
-The dietary requirements of a mouse and a gerbil are very different, so this food is not very good for either species.
-You have to fill their food bowls up twice as often due to wastage, so your pet is not getting a balanced diet, and having a cheaper food such as this is a false economy as you have to use twice as much, compared to a well balanced diet.
-Contains very few different cereals.

Overall, I wouldn’t use this food for my animals as the cons far outweigh the pros, and I feel its just not healthy enough.
