Walter Harrison & Sons produce dried mealworms in a resealable plastic packet.

Pros:
Dried mealworms are great as an occasional treat - most mice love them (spiny mice included) - and they’re much less squirm-inducing and keep much better than live mealworms. The seal on Walter Harrison’s pack is quite secure, and months after opening, my packet of mealworms is still perfectly dry and crunchy.

Cons:
Although the packet claims the mealworms are “high energy - high protein”, it doesn’t actually provide a nutritional analysis of its contents, making it difficult to determine how occasional a treat these mealworms should be, especially as the nutritive content of insects can vary greatly depending on how they were fed while alive. Also, the size of the packet means that it is difficult to finish it all off before the mealworms go stale, unless you have a lot of mouths (and possibly beaks) to feed.

Overall:
Mealworms are a great treat, certainly much loved by my spiny mice, and if you haven’t the inclination to feed live ones, then dried ones are a good substitute. I would have preferred a smaller packet, though, and a nutritional analysis would have been very helpful too.
