Pros:
I bought the Bunny Treat Tumbler because I thought my spiny mice might enjoy a different and challenging method of getting their treats, rather than just giving treats to them in cardboard boxes or loo roll “crackers” all the time. While there were a number of problems with this toy - mostly due to its size (it is marketed at rabbits after all) - the spiny mice did manage to get their treats in the end and they seemed to enjoy it.

Cons:
As well as being quite large and therefore already difficult for a small mouse to play with, the Bunny Treat Tumbler also has carrot-shaped bumps dotted around it, which makes it even harder for a mouse to roll. Since it’s heavy enough to be dangerous were it to fall on another mouse I would recommend, with hindsight, that it is only ever used as a ground-based toy (and not on platforms as shown in the picture - I did supervise the spiny mice quite carefully during that test run though!) - which would make it nearly impossible to roll in a cage since the base of most cages is covered in a nice thick layer of substrate. So I feel it’s only safe and useable as a free-range toy.

Overall:
I’m not really a fan of this toy since it’s so limited in where it can be used safely and is just far too big for such small rodents as mice, but since my spiny mice enjoyed it - even if they didn’t quite understand what was going on and most of their success was down to luck - I’m still giving it 6/10. I wouldn’t recommend it to mouse owners, but I would definitely recommend it to owners of larger and stronger rodents like rats as it is fundamentally quite a fun toy.
