This is a self assembly, brightly coloured wooden toy with lots of holes in it. It is advertised for rabbits but I got it for the mice cos I thought they would like it!! It is quite large but once in the cage it doesn’t look so big. The holes are different sizes so younger and older mice can both enjoy it and they seem to absolutely love it. Reasonably good value for money due to its size and durability. Will definitely replace. 9/10 cos it’s not perfect (I think it could be improved by being cheaper for what it is - you could probably make one quite easily) but its nearly there!

The Bite ‘n’ Roll is a wooden chew toy and treat dispenser for small animals.

Pros:

The bright colours make for a more attractive cage, and the shape of the Bite ‘n’ Roll makes for an interesting climbing frame.

Cons:

Small rodents like mice are far too small to actually roll the Bite ‘n’ Roll as intended. However, this isn’t necessarily a con as this means they’re small enough to climb on it, which is arguably just as much fun.

The vegetable dyes are water-soluble, so not only will they stain your fingers if you handle the Bite ‘n’ Roll with damp hands, but giving it a proper wash in soapy water will probably result in most of the dye coming off.

Assembling the Bite ‘n’ Roll involves slotting small pegs on one piece into matching holes on another piece. Unfortunately, one of the holes in my Bite ‘n’ Roll was misaligned, so I had to widen the hole with a penknife, and hammer in the peg. I probably had a product from a dodgy batch, but this is not an encouraging sign with regards to the quality of HappyPet’s products.

Finally, the Bite ‘n’ Roll comes with a small tube of PVC glue which you use to glue the pegs into the holes. I think the glue provided would have been sufficient had I received a properly manufactured Bite ‘n’ Roll, but with the number of attempts it took me to get it to slot together, I ran out of glue.

Overall:

Now that I’ve dealt with the construction of the Bite ‘n’ Roll, I’m reasonably happy with it. However, I have spiny mice which produce very little urine and so I’ve never had to wash it. If you have to wash your wooden toys on a regular basis, then you will probably have to put up with faded colours on your Bite ‘n’ Roll. I wouldn’t really say it’s value for money given the poor quality of its construction.

These are great! Not only are they good for the mice to chew at but mine love climbing on them and especially through the little holes in it. They also like to hide food through the small holes at the bottom parts. The only downfall I would say is with all wooden toys after time they start to smell. I soak mine in warm soapy water and leave to dry, but the dye does run out pretty fast.
