The Aladino is a small animal carrier that comes in 3 sizes - small, medium, and large - and a variety of colours.

Pros:
The carrier is made from sturdy plastic and has a very securely locking lid. It is also well ventilated, with plenty of air holes at the top that are still small enough to prevent small rodents from escaping.

The sides of the carrier are opaque but its lid is clear, which is a good compromise between keeping the rodents inside feeling safe and allowing the people outside to keep an eye on them.

The top and bottom halves of the carrier can be separated, albeit with considerable difficulty.

Cons:
The securely locking lid is so secure that it requires 2 hands to close, and 2 hands are not always available when dealing with multiple small, fast rodents like mice.

The carrier has a textured base, which may make cleaning slightly more difficult. This is easily remedied, however, by putting down a folded up sheet of newspaper and/or a layer of bedding.

I consider the carrier sizes to be, as usual, too small for the animals they are supposedly aimed at. For 2-4 mice, I would say the medium carrier is the right size: large enough for a place to hide, a food bowl, and a little room for them to stretch their legs. In a small carrier, they would be packed in like sardines.

Overall:
The Aladino is a good, solidly built pet carrier. I wish the locking system on the lid was redesigned so that it’s just as secure without being so difficult to close, but on the whole, it’s a good product. The fact that it comes in a range of colours is a nice bonus. I would recommend it as a quality carrier that will probably see you through years of use.

This carrier comes in 3 sizes; the medium and large are of the same design comprising of an upper section (with thin vertical 5mm ish air vents) and a lower one (solid base). The small one “mouse suitable”in the range is essentially a small plastic box with a lid which I definitely wouldn’t use for any rodent as it is far too little for much more than one small mouse without a bed.

The door is solid plastic and attaches with a push-clip at the front and 2 individual hinges at the back. I find the door fine to close with one hand due to the flexibility of the plastic it clips into, although 2 hands are needed for opening. With the large carrier one has to be a bit careful of the hinges and not quickly opening the door. However the hinges of the medium carrier are alot stronger than that of the larger one due to the door size being less and thus the hinges don’t have to support as much weight.

There are 2 handles that when not in use sit open in a groove on either side of the door. The attachments are strong while not being stiff meaning while being held the carrier is always horizontal to the ground, rather than being stiffly held at an angle. Having 2 handles as opposed to one also makes the carrying smoother and less jolty for the animals concerned.

There is quite a large depth to this carrier compared to others on the market which allows a deep layer of substrate and a taller house to be included without the mice feeling exposed. The classic ferplast base of slightly raised lines stops poos from being squished to the base making cleaning significantly easier; but for thorough cleaning one can easily detach the 2 halves of the carrier.

I cannot fault this carrier, although it would be nice if there was also one of rat-sized footprint but with less height more suitable for larger mousie groups.

I originally bought this carrier for collecting a baby guinea pig but I had to take my mouse to the vets and have somewhere for when I cleaned them out. There’s space inside for a little house and food bowl. It is also possible to attach a small mouse sized water bottle to the outside which makes it perfect for car journeys or if you’re doing a good clean of the cage with a change round of toys.

A small pet carrier with opaque sides, a clear, lockable lid, and two handles.

Pros
-A clear ventilated lid
-Opaque sides, with ventilation near the lid
-Two handles-good for ensuring a smooth ‘ride’ for your pets
-Good ventilation-small enough so no animal can escape

Cons
-Hard to lock lid-which can be tricky to open/close if you have a small animal in your hands as it requires two hands to lock/open
-Nearly impossible to clean succesfully. It has two sections-a coloured base and a white top and lid which ’snap’ together, but it is very hard to snap off and on to clean
-Textured bottom-this makes cleaning the base hard as it traps dust and debris
-Expensive for such an ill designed cgae that it is

Overall, if Ferplast could correct the above problems, I would definatly buy this again, but not until they change those mistakes. However, there are reasons why I like this product, but I felt it was only worth a 4/10
