I bought this rat food on the recommendation that it provides a complete diet for mice and rats, and though it does fill all the dietary requirements, I found that my mice weren’t extremely interested. In my view I still have to make a mix with the Suparat to get my mice to be interested in it. I think that this food would be great for mice which aren’t picky and aren’t used to mixes, but like my mice who are used to a little variety it is a little plain. Another bad point to the food is that it is quiet expensive for the amount you get, so owners of large numbers of mice may be put off by the cost of the food, and how far it goes.

All in all Suparat is good for people who have small numbers of mice, who aren’t picky about food, on a plus side it does make a great (yet expensive) base for a mix.

I bought this food as when I first got my mice, I was unaware that they could have the same diet as my rats - this was the base food that the rats had and stated that it was also suitable for mice. Locally I have only seen in in 1Kg bags, however I am sure you can get it in larger ones as other small pet foods made by Burgess Foods can be.

I found that my mice did like this, however contrary to what I now know about mice being fine with eating small grains, they just weren’t overly interested, though they did eat all of the mix with no problem they didn’t rush over to the food bowl once I had refilled it and shut the cage door. They love the brown flat flaky bits though, which don’t seem to be in many other commercial foods, heh.

Compared to other commercially available foods the content analysis seems more balanced, and it doesn’t contain any nuts or seeds so if you have podgy mice you don’t have to pick them out or anything.

I found the burgess suparat was a very plain looking food looking as if its main contents were seeds although it had all the dietary needs for your mouse. I used this item as a base food and made my own mix, I’d recommend this as a good base food to mix in for your mice.

OK used as a base mix and recommended by NFRS for rats but not readily enjoyed also seed can seem a bit dusty.
