I originally bought this cage as my breeder had several units and it’s ability to be added to appealed to me as a really fabulous idea, preventing the need to buy a new cage should more cage space be needed. The colours could be considered garish, but I personally think they’re quite fun. The bar spacing is 1cm and the bars are really strong as well as being powder-coated.

The top level is fully plastic with air holes and a snug sleeping compartment. There’s full access to every corner of the cage which is really fab too. All of the plastic parts are made with chewers in mind, and none of my chewers have managed to get their teeth into it. It’s easy to assemble and clean, and the base it pretty deep to allow burrowing and minimise bedding being kicked out.

In an expanded unit, rotastak bungs fit perfectly into the entrance holes between levels and so several groups could be potentially be kept in just the one cage unit, with the levels blocked off. For this reason, I think it’s perfect for male groups so that in case of fallouts, the fighters can just be separated simply and quickly without the need for a backup cage or even moving them out of the cage they know.

Overall I think, for what it is, this cage is absolutely brilliant value for money and a really practical cage. I would give it 10 out of 10 and definitely buy again.

The Imac Fantasy is the best cage I have ever had. It’s big, sturdy, easy to clean and great value for money. The best thing about it is the way you can extend it upwards without losing any floor space yourself, while giving your mice the best cage experience with unlimited room. I feel that there is plenty of room for toys, it’s a bar cage so you can hang hammocks and ropes from it and your mice can easily climb up the bars too. My petss love it so much, when I first put Sazi in there she stayed up all night running around and up and down the floors, she was so excited to have such a large space!

My Imac Fantasy consists of a basic + 4 extensions in which I keep two mice in - but only because I like them to have loads of room, there is more than enough for at least 2 mice in each basic + 1 extension. It has a very strong and sturdy build with easy access doors in each compartment for you to get your mice out of. It’s so easy to clean, with clips connecting each of the floors together, and the floors detach from the bars very easily. I love the way that you can extend the cage upward as much as you want, with each level measuring 58 x 38 cm, the basic containing two. The levels are connected together by plastic tubes, which are good and also easy to clean.

The cage usually costs £40 for the basic, and then £20 for each extension. Even with that price, I think it’s still fantastic value for money. IMO it’s the best cage on the market and you can’t get a better quality cage if you tried. I would love to give my other pets an Imac but I can’t because I have already bought their two bin cages, Rotastack and Freddy 2 cage.. none of them come close to the quality and practicalness of the Imac. You can also find it on Ebay usually for a very cheap price, I once saw a Basic + 2 extensions for only £2.20 (with pick up). Unfortunately I lived too far away, but if I hadn’t then I would have def got it without a question. I would def buy again, without question.. this is the best cage in the world!

Place Purchased: Bought from Tesco Direct
Price: £25 for the base plus £20 for each additional level plus £5 p&p
Score: 9.5/10

I really like this cage and would highly recommend it to other mice owners.

The cage is made out of a lightweight plastic base with a metal bar surround and then another lightweight plastic top with a ‘loft’ level including sleeping quarters. The floors all have ridges on them which help to stop toys sliding around and there are airholes throughout the plastic lid and strategically placed in the levels so that there is plenty of air circulation. The levels are connected with plastic tubes which are easy to take apart and clean as is the whole cage.

The bars mean that you can hang toys including hammocks for your mice. The bars are 8mm apart making it suitable for all ages and a small-spouted water bottle will fit through them without any trouble. There are small doors on each level which have ample space to pick up your mice. There are large access points in the loft as well or you can take the whole roof or loft off if need be.

The basic cage is a reasonable size in itself for if you had a lone mouse but if you have more than 1 you can add on the additional levels making this a great cage for people who might wish to expand their populations. It makes great use of vertical space with the levels, tubes and bars so there is no risk of wasting cage space. Also, because of the way the levels are designed it has the potential to be split into ‘flats’ if your mice have a falling out so that you do not have to purchase a second cage or use up anymore space.

On the downside, the cage clips are made from plastic and I am not sure how long these will survive regular use; although I haven’t had any trouble as yet. And obviously the colours are a bit garish but honestly once you have the cage set up you don’t really notice it.

Score: 9/10

Pros
The cage comes apart in parts making it easier to clean and set up new things. The plastic base and level are nicely rounded off which makes the cage easier to clean. (I simply pull it apart and spray it with the hose and some soapy water outside). The cage is expandable which makes it easy to add levels if you happen to end up with more mice than expected! When I need to clean the cage I simply lift off the top level and place it on the floor (with the mice in the top level) that leaves them familiar place to be whilst I clean the bottom of the cage. I then swap them over and clean the top whilst they explore their new clean cage.

Cons
Over time the wire bars start to get a bit gross, especially if you have male mice marking their territory all over them. (But once again cleaning down regularly will solve this problem.) I hardly use the plastic tube that comes with the cage. They become smelly very fast and are quite a pain to take on and off. If you don’t use something (like newspaper) on the top plastic level I find that the wee dries and sticks to the plastic in patches which makes it harder to clean. The fact that the plastic level covers the top of the wired area makes it harder to hang things as there is no wire at the top to hang it to.

Overall
I give this cage a 9/10. I have 3 of these cages and 2 pet one cages. When it comes to cleaning day each week I must admit I clean all the Imac’s first as they are just so much easier to deal with. Plus I currently have my 1 male mouse in two Imac’s that are joined together and he’s never been happier. He runs up and down through the levels each time as excited as the last. Although the cage is expensive I would certainly recommend the buy!
